Babbels is an innovative application that integrates the functionalities of WhatsApp Business within Microsoft Teams. We give you step-by-step instructions for implementing Babbels within your company and Microsoft Teams environment.

1. Give Babbels access to your Meta account

In order to use WhatsApp, you need a Meta Business account as a company. You can create one via the button below. By doing this, you also give Babbels permission to manage certain necessary parts of the account. What does this mean exactly? By giving Babbels access, we can:

  • Add and link your phone number.
  • Create template messages.
  • Show the chat messages in Babbels.
  • View general consumption statistics.
Embedded Signup

2. Prepare your Microsoft environment

  • Make sure Microsoft Teams is active within the organization.
  • Make sure you have administrative rights within the Microsoft tenant and Microsoft Teams.
  • Provide your Microsoft tenant ID so it can be whitelisted. How to find it, see you here. You can send this to info@klout.nl.
  • Optional: In consultation with the organization, provide a (temporary guest) Microsoft account for Babbels so that the application can be tested after launch.

3. Installation of the application

As an administrator, complete the following steps to install Babbels on the tenant. Please note: these steps are general and may differ depending on specific settings or updates within Microsoft 365 and Teams.

  1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center (admin.microsoft.com) and sign in with your administrator account.
  2. Go to the “Teams” icon under 'Admin centers' to navigate directly to the Teams Administration Center (admin.teams.microsoft.com).
  3. Go to “Teams apps” > “Manage apps” and search for Babbels.
  4. Select the Babbels app and choose “Allow” or “Install” to make the app available.
  5. Go to “Set Policies” and select or create a policy that applies to all users. Add the Babbels app to this policy to make it active and visible by default in Teams for all users. You can also determine the position of the app in the Teams sidebar.

4. Allow Teams Notification Messages

In order to make full use of the notification messages within Microsoft Teams, the administrator must approve notification messages by Babbels. To do this, complete the following steps.

  1. Go to the Azure Portal: Open your web browser and navigate to the Azure Portal (portal.azure.com).
  2. Go to “Business Applications” from the navigation menu on the left.
  3. Go to “All applications” and search for “Babbels”. If the app is not visible, uncheck the application type “Enterprise Applications”.
  4. Click on the Babbels app to open the settings.
  5. Go to “Permissions” from the navigation menu on the left.
  6. Click on the blue “Grant administrator permission” button.
  7. A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm the action. Accept this to grant the rights to the Babbels app to display notification banners and activities.
